When Red Bull partnered with Activision on the re-release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, they reached out to The Boardr to help produce their signature Red Bull Pin Drop event. With Kona Skatepark being featured in the game, as well as in our backyard, it was a no-brainer to bring Red Bull Pin Drop to the historic location. Red Bull wanted to include a leave-behind build as a part of the overall project, so The Boardr tapped our sister company, Platform Group, to handle the design/build of a major street course feature. Platform then partnered with Roque Construction to add modern street elements, while respecting the park’s iconic legacy. This unique, one-of-a-kind event was a regional hit, and the new obstacle was the focal point of the skating. We had the privilege of celebrating skateboarding history, while also contributing to the oldest surviving skatepark in the world.
