The skateboarding community spoke up at the initial Community Input Meeting on November 6th, and both the Village of Palmetto Bay and Platform listened. The most exciting update to the design is that the entire footprint of the existing skatepark is back in play. This created more space, enabling wider quarter-pipes and decks, and brought the “chill area” closer to the action, too. Elevations were slightly adjusted, so a small stair-set could be added. One of the coolest aspects is the repurposing of an existing hip and rainbow rail as a nod to the past. We appreciate the community’s participation and the feedback received. Platform is now ready to move forward into the construction drawings phase. Once permits are obtained, shovels will be in the ground.
